Before using shoes, spray them a few times with an impregnating spray.

The spray must not contain silicone as it may leave marks on the fabric.. If your shoes get dirty, you can clean them with a special textile cleaner for shoes. You can buy it in a shoe store. Let the shoes dry before applying the impregnating spray again.
