Suede

Suede is made from the back of the skin facing the flesh of the animal. Suede is clearly rough with large fiber fibers that cover the surface. The back is smooth. The skin is very soft and highly absorbent, and very light sensitive.

Real suede is made of the top layer, the grain layer which has a nice softness and elasticity. The thinner it is, the softer - but thus also has less breaking strength.

Nubuck

Nubuck is made from the grain side of a skin. It is sanded after tanning and dyeing so that it looks like suede. Nubuck is clearly rough with small fine fibers that cover the surface. The back is rougher than the front. Although nubuck and suede are fundamentally different, they must be treated and cared for the same way.

Suede / nubuck care

If you have a bag or a pair of boots in suede / nubuck, it is recommended that you use care products that are intended for suede and nubuck. Suede / nubuck care helps to protect, impregnate and refresh the color of your boots or bag. Suede / nubuck care is applied by applying an even layer with a sponge, letting it dry, and finally brushing up with a sponge or brush. For that purpose, a suede brush can be recommended. A suede brush can also be helpful in cleaning and removing stains on your bag or boot.
