LeatherUpdated 2 years ago

In general

Leather can generally be divided into three different types:

- The best quality is grain leather, which is the top layer of the skin on the animal.

- Second best is split-leather, which is the part of the skin that faces the body. The split leather can be split into different thicknesses, whereby a production can be optimized, as the raw material is thereby utilized optimally. The split leather is part of the genuine leather, and has roughly the same durability and strength as the top layer.

- The last quality is shaved leather, which consists of utilized residues that appear in connection with tanning and processing of the leather.

Care

Leather must be impregnated 2-3 times in a row at half-hour intervals before using the product. Then the leather should be sanded with shoe polish and impregnated regularly depending on how often you use them.

If leather is not nourished, the leather dries out and may crack. If you have shoes or boots that have become soaked, stuff them with crumpled newspaper and let them dry slowly at room temperature - never on a radiator or in a heating cabinet.
